Not Just Tactics

Beginner-Friendly Warmachine Tournament Plans

Tony Muno & Joe Lee Episode 22

Send us a text

What happens when you design a tournament to teach first and stress last? We walk through our blueprint for a welcoming Warmachine event: a 3x3 board, six-inch deployments, 30 points, assassination as the win condition, and no clocks. After rounds of playtesting and terrain tweaks, we landed on a format that respects time without rushing decisions, so newer players can absorb rules, measure cleanly, and still feel the thrill of a decisive assassination run.

We also get candid about list building and restraint. Angus flirts with Crucible Guard combos that layer oil, fire, and boosted damage, while Chris dusts off Menoth with Kreoss, Exemplars, and Cinerators. We weigh power against teaching and how to bring sharp tools but use them to explain lines of play rather than table a newcomer by turn two. Along the way, we talk model choices, why the Retaliator sometimes beats Apollo, and what makes 30-point lists sing on a smaller battlefield.

Lore fans won’t be left out. Our reactions to Craghorn’s story highlight how narrative shapes the factions we love and the armies we paint. Trollkin prejudice, tough choices, and a mercenary path add grit to gameplay, pushing us to build events where theme and mechanics meet. That energy flows into our community push: we’ve opened Discord with regional channels, refreshed our Facebook and Instagram, and started experimenting with recorded games and potential VOD access.

Behind the scenes, we hit download milestones and share a transparent plan to stay ad-free. A “buy me a coffee” link and possible Patreon tiers could fund better audio equipment, video content, and various other things without interrupting your feed. If you want a kinder on-ramp that still brings the heat, join us: find a practice game on Discord, send us your list ideas, and help shape the next event. If you enjoy the show, subscribe, leave a five-star review, and tell us what perks you’d want to see next.

SPEAKER_03:

Hey there listeners, NJT here, bringing you fresh perspectives on all things war machine and building the community we surround ourselves with. Remember, we're not just tactics. Hey Chris. Hello. Angus? Hey Tony. What's going on, guys? Oh, not a lot.

SPEAKER_01:

Hanging out. Working on lists for the tournament coming up. That's great. Kind of important. Yeah, working on Payton for said tournament.

SPEAKER_03:

Which I am not doing because I'm going to be in a more official capacity. In case if people do show up and join us for this tournament, we are on Long Shanks. I will drop a link in the show notes to make sure that when this does air, you guys will be able to see it. And if you want, go ahead, take a peek. I believe the official, the guy who's actually going to be monitoring and put up the ad is the store owner of Second City, but he knows how to operate longshanks. So he's the one that's on there. I'm going to be the one uh overseeing the actual physical gameplay. But we've been discussing with him, we've been working out all sorts of terrain details, and we've been play testing and working pretty diligently between Chris Angus and myself, and we have found that there's some little things that we had to tweak here and there, and especially because we reduced the board size to make it a little bit more accommodating for the 30-point rule. And I would definitely say you guys think it's pretty good now.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Uh we selled on three feet by three feet, and then six-inch deployments. And then uh I think we're gonna go with assassination.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, because uh uh elimination was a little too difficult. Or I'm sorry, not elimination. Yeah, execution was a little too difficult, especially at that point because you could just throw too many things in the way and it just you'd would clock yourself out. And we we did try doing clocks, but I ultimately believe that we settled against it just because, again, this is beginner-friendly.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, adding a bunch of extra stress to what's supposed to be relaxing.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, then if you're trying to learn, I'd rather have a round, and I think we're actually doing what, an hour and a half, two hour rounds, something like that. Yeah, I believe it's an hour and a half.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

And if we finish things faster, that's great. But also at the same point, I'd rather have people take extra time, learn, and be able to actually put their models around, make the right decisions, not the fast decision. Right. Yep. And actually get to play and learn and how their armies are supposed to do this. Different note, real quick. I'm gonna hop in here real fast. I am terrible at reminding our listeners to come on over to our Facebook, take a peek, follow us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, join our Facebook group, and also we did set up the Discord. There's been a couple people who found us and has joined in because I don't know who they are. Um, as much as I would love to be able to say, oh yeah, I know who everyone is on there. And there's actually some we'll say stragglers from my old DD group. So now I've got that set up and bear with us. I'm still trying to figure it all out and try to get it all set up and learned, but we're doing a pretty good job, and we've got some people in there and starting to chit-chat.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, introduce yourself because with the handles and stuff, we don't know who people are.

SPEAKER_03:

So Yeah, and then I'll actually go through and I'll probably put in a little bit of edit tags for myself so I know exactly who's who and I'll be able to properly interact as compared to randomly showing up.

unknown:

Right.

SPEAKER_03:

But yeah, right now we have some channels for local and regional areas. So if we get more people joining in, especially on Discord, it'll help you start finding other games and start being able to locate others in our community, and then I can even start pointing you into other ways to find other communities at larger scale. Right. So again, all these things will be in the show notes. Very good. A little bit more on the tournament, though. What are you gonna be playing, Angus?

SPEAKER_01:

I am leaning towards fifth division Kador with second or Sersha 2, and then probably two juggernauts, and then probably some Greylords and mechanics, but I'm not committed to it. Commitment.

SPEAKER_03:

I heard uh uh I was gonna say commit. I did hear rumors of Crucible Guard. I've been thinking about it.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay.

SPEAKER_03:

And by rumors, you and I talking directly.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. So the Locke list that I'm considering for the tournament would be Locke, uh, Retaliator, a Toro, an Ascendant Mentalist, and a unit of failed experiments. What happened to the Apollo? Apollo does not fit. I would rather have a retaliator to just oil everything up.

SPEAKER_03:

And then Locke sets them on fire and watches everything explode.

SPEAKER_01:

Yep.

SPEAKER_02:

It's really gross. That's why I was hoping it was going with the Apollo.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, right. And that's not that great either.

SPEAKER_04:

I know. There's no good option.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, Crucible Guard, the more I've been looking at them, the faster and faster they appear to be getting broken. Especially once you start learning how to combo the units together and start stacking things, it could be a really big problem. It's a rough day. I disagree. I don't know about that. I I'm I'm struggling because I'm like, you know, Crucible Guard would be pretty interesting. But I'm like, you have enough armies. You're about to get Kiff Guard. Finish pay to your trolls, mad.

SPEAKER_01:

No. I call you every day and I've got a new like fangled scheme for Crucible Guard.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, this is true. Angus does, he does call me and he's like, hey, so idea. What do you think about this? And I'm like, don't, dude, this is a beginner's tournament. He's like, but how fast do you think this would cause damage? I'm like, a lot of damage. Yes, it doubles the fire damage rolls, and you can't put them out. So that's a problem. But what if I could get fire attacks and corrosive attacks and then boost the rolls automatically?

SPEAKER_01:

No man.

SPEAKER_03:

All right, we're we're done. Just you're not playing Crucible Guard at the tournament. We just can't. This is whoa, whoa. So beginner's tournament, you're like, yeah. But if I go this route, how long do you think it'll be before I table someone? I'm like, all right, if you're playing me, that's fine. I'm like, We're the ref, man. That's why I said, if you're playing me, that's fine.

SPEAKER_04:

Uh no, in in all actuality guard has to buy every round. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. No, for real though. Angus is when we have talked about it, it's not actually a list that he's intending on bringing out as far as how fast can I burn everything? But I mean, that is kind of how Crucible Guard does work.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Which is funny because we haven't released the Crucible Guard episode yet, but that's already recorded and will be coming out shortly. Alright, Chris, so what are you playing? Or what are you theorizing to play?

SPEAKER_04:

Well, I recently reacquired some Menoth. So if I can get them painted by then, I'll do them. If not, I'll stick with the trolls.

SPEAKER_02:

They're like three colors base. It's like the prime color is one of them.

SPEAKER_01:

So yeah, I was gonna say just wash it and you'll be done. Right. And it's 30 points.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

You can get 30 points in Menoth done.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. So I'm gonna work on that now. Hopefully, the Menoth is the goal.

SPEAKER_03:

Menoth is the goal.

SPEAKER_04:

If not, then we'll go back to Gunborn.

SPEAKER_03:

I was gonna say Gunborne's rolling through.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep. Tried and true. There you go. Sorcerer versus Krios. Just like the box art.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh god. Yeah, that box. I saw that box between you two. I was like, that's a healthy little starter. And because of that, I started looking up the old trolls and scorn box. I almost bought it. It was like$43 on eBay. Oh, that's dirt cheap. Yeah, but here's the problem. You none of them are prime. The caster you get in there, you can't use prime. Because he's the guy that basically hammer guy or whatever. Yeah. He everybody gets impervious flesh for a round. So I'm like, oh, yeah. So I'm like, okay, you can't use him. So he's been banned on all fronts. He's not in Northern. He's not in United. He's just gone.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, fortunately for the tournament, Legacy is open.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. I mean, but I'm not going to do that. And again, I'm officiating, so that's also not going to be a thing. Well, if we got an odd number. That's true. Someone's got to be the ringer. Yeah, that's when I'll just drop Hellslingers down and be like, all right, cool guys, good game.

SPEAKER_01:

That's rude.

SPEAKER_03:

It is very rude. You're going to get the win, but you won't have fun doing it. Says who. I have plenty of fun playing Hellslingers. What I might do.

SPEAKER_01:

But you don't get the win. Oh, yeah, I don't care. Maybe I should just bring my social one list.

SPEAKER_03:

I lose. The one thing that I'll definitely say is I lose most of the games that we play. I do go on winning streaks where if I'm playing usually one-on-one, I do a lot better. When I start playing with teams, I lose very often.

SPEAKER_04:

I don't think I have won yet.

SPEAKER_03:

No, you have. You've won uh the one game that it was you, Joe, and Angus, and it was me. Yeah, and it was uh you won the game also where I got it was where Dozer and Smeg were fighting off against Chum. You guys won that one. Oh, that's right. Yeah, you as a team have won. You personally have not won. No. Yeah. That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_04:

So you're gonna do Minoth. I am doing Minoth. So it's gonna be Krios 2, because he's the only Krios option in Prime. And then probably a Crusader, a Grand Exemplar Gravis, The Cinerators, and Exemplar Knights, I think is what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay.

SPEAKER_01:

Which I can tell you I have zero knowledge on Menoth. Have you tested this list out against Tom yet? I have not. So this is a untested list that you're just gonna roll out there.

SPEAKER_02:

This is 100% untested. Correct. Alright, so this is definitely your playstyle. Yeah. GBGH.

SPEAKER_01:

Absolutely. Go big or go home. You want to test it out against Sorsha or Locke? Sortia. Okay.

SPEAKER_03:

Lock? No. You should do it because you're gonna be resistance to fire. They're not.

SPEAKER_04:

I look today. Oh, Jesus. Never mind. Once you posted that thing, I went through to see if any of them are resistant to fire. No. They all give continuous fire. They're not resistance fire.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh my gosh. Are you serious? I figured that they would have had resistance fire, but apparently that's not a thing now. Alright. Or has it been a few years?

SPEAKER_04:

It's unfortunate. I thought they used to. See, and that was because their whole thing is fire, so I thought they'd be like immune to it. No.

SPEAKER_01:

Alright. Well, good to know for a future. Set them on fire. That's okay. Crucible Guard has gimmicks for getting rid of immunities. I I did see that too.

SPEAKER_03:

Which To be fair, they're not immune to anything, so Yeah. I'm gonna eliminate your immunity to fire. Good, because I never had it.

SPEAKER_04:

I will take your continuous fire and I will give it to you as well. Perfect.

SPEAKER_01:

I think you're immune to it, aren't you? I believe so. With the mask or whatever? Yeah, I believe they have immunity fire and uh or resistance fire.

SPEAKER_03:

So you take one less fire damage or one less die of fire damage.

SPEAKER_04:

What they're not resistant to, damage.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. That's where chum's gonna come in.

SPEAKER_04:

That's what I'm going for, it's just damage.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. And they they actually do hit fairly hard from what I remember.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Like I've never played them, but I do remember people saying that they hit really, really hard.

SPEAKER_04:

So like I used to have these guys back in Mark II. So I'm re-getting them back. You're reacquiring? I'm reacquiring many of the same things I had because I remember I like them. And now that they've separated the prime stuff, I think it's like the last interdiction or something like that, is the grouping of them, but they're all the exemplars and stuff, they're exactly what I want.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay.

SPEAKER_04:

Like and Krios is my guy. There's like Gunborn, and then right under is Krios is my like favorite dudes.

SPEAKER_03:

I will definitely tell you, with reading some of the new stories that they put out, the one where it's if you guys haven't read it yet, Fire Quill, Ragemonger, and Commodore Foulblood, they're all having like a meeting. Foulblood is just talking the whole time to Firequill, to the point that he's like getting ready to fight it out. And Foulblood's like, Come on, bud, just eagerly trying to get him to jump in.

SPEAKER_01:

And Ragemonger where they're bickering about what to do with uh Boomholler.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, about what's going on with her and who's gonna take over. And Ragemonger's like, it's not me. He's like, I am not doing this. And that's I honestly figured that that might have been a thing. But Ragemonger's like, nah, I'm not doing it. I've got to deal with my own fleet, and that's bad enough. It's a great little story.

SPEAKER_02:

It is. Yeah. Especially when you see Nakane start torturing.

SPEAKER_01:

Yep. Got Boomholler's soul on her belt like a Tamagotchi pet. Pretty much.

SPEAKER_03:

And it makes me makes my heart weep a little. But then also on the same token, I'm like, yeah. The Crixian version.

SPEAKER_01:

Doubtful.

SPEAKER_03:

I do. I I really do think that that's not gonna happen. But one can only hope. I mean, we'll see. I don't know. I just hope from time to time that it's gonna be a thing. But again.

SPEAKER_04:

I won't ask Steamforge, but I'm looking forward to see what the new Menoth comes back as.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, you gotta wait for Adepticon. I know. And they've already said don't talk to us about it until after or at Adepticon, because that's when they're gonna release the information on Menoth, which they did say no dinosaurs.

SPEAKER_01:

That's fair. What's the deal with that? I don't recall Menoth ever having dinosaurs.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know, but there's always I I've seen pictures of like Menoth riding dinosaurs. I I have no idea. I'll put Kreos on a dinosaur. That sounds cool. I mean, yeah. Anything riding a dinosaur would be cool. I mean, why are the trolls not riding dinosaurs? Because they have goats. And bears. And bears. And trolls. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And tanks.

SPEAKER_03:

Yep.

SPEAKER_01:

Speaking of bears, I have exciting news.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh no, what is this?

SPEAKER_01:

Yana is finally on the way.

SPEAKER_03:

Yana is inbound. Is it extreme Yana?

SPEAKER_01:

No.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh.

SPEAKER_04:

What's the extreme one? Doesn't exist yet.

SPEAKER_03:

There isn't one. That was uh they were doing the AMA on Reddit. Angus was like, Extreme Yana, Extreme Yana. What about Yana? Are you gonna do an extreme Yana? So like any suggestions for and Angus is like, an extreme Yana would be cool. Like every chance he could pipe in, he just jumped in with Extreme Yana. Did they ever actually acknowledge your prose? No.

SPEAKER_01:

I think they did once.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, they did.

SPEAKER_01:

They're like, that'd be an interesting idea. But no. Yeah. Cool. No. Yeah, that's pretty much how it went.

SPEAKER_03:

It was like, you know what? No. And well, that that was also one of the things that I had asked. I asked about something about Iron Kingdoms, if they were going to do a starter set that never went acknowledged. And then I asked about the two-player star sets if they were going to be putting more terrain in, like they did in the Signar versus Codor box. And the answer was no. And I was like, okay. Like, that's fine. But if you've noticed a valid question, though. It was. And the reason why is because when you look at that old box set, and when I say old, I'm making it sound like it's really old, but it's really not. When you look at that box set, you got two jacks, two casters, two units of three, and a solo apiece. Okay? That that's what was in that box. And then you got terrain. You swing out to the uh the next box, you got two casters, two war beasts, two units, four solos, because each one came with two solos. And now in this new box that they just got, you got two casters, four war beasts, one solo, and one unit. So you're seeing this kind of uptick in model count versus terrain, which I'm about that. You know, give me those models. The terrain, especially now with the core rule book, you have templates that you can cut out and you can start putting down. And I understand. I I personally like the the physical terrain, but I'm also about the flat terrain. It's easier to, you know, play and move around and measure through. Right. Makes it so much easier. Which thank you, by the way, for having flat terrain, because I can't ever find it anywhere online.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, a lot of places sold out, even if I've gone to look for extra. Right. That's like all missing.

SPEAKER_03:

So Yeah, that's well, if anybody knows of anywhere that you can procure 2D flat terrain, or if you know people that are on either Etsy or something like that, we would like to look into that also, possibly getting our logo on some of them as well.

SPEAKER_04:

That'd be awesome.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. There's been a little bit of here and there. But speaking of trolls, they did just release Kraghorn. Yes. And I'm not going to cover that directly in this episode. I want to save that for when we do the Kithguard lore dive. But I do want to talk about it. When we did the Brineblood starter, and we talked about that, I covered Commodore Foulblood, and I covered his lore and his experiences, and how they mentioned that they, as trolls or troll kin, were kind of cast out. They were downplayed, treated like second class citizens. And I was like, oh, that kind of sucks. And I'm like, well, maybe it's because this guy's a Mennonite, and maybe he's just this whole thing. No, you you read Kraghorn, and that is what humanity is like.

SPEAKER_00:

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm going to go in with Kipgard, and I'm just going to start playing aggressively. I want to bring them up. And I'll be there to keep the trolls in their place. Oh, you and your humanity. But it is, it is just one of those things that it it was so when you were reading it, it was very I was reading it at night in bed, and I just I was reading it, I legitimately started shaking my head. This is crazy. And to Steam Forge's credit, that might be the response that they were looking for. And I don't want to go too too far into it, but when you have someone bringing a fallen soldier back to the military for proper burial, and you get ambushed by the military and almost executed, and it was fair. Like he even mentioned, he's like, Yeah, I was kind of stupid. I walk up with a gun and I got a guy behind me and he's dead, but makes sense. But then when he explained everything and the level in which he was treated, I'm sitting here, I'm like, man, I want I like Signar. I like gravediggers. Signar a scum.

SPEAKER_01:

I legit yeah, Kador. Okay. Kador, Kator. You're a nice wholesome people. SKS, okay.

SPEAKER_04:

Double humanity.

SPEAKER_01:

So never a war crime the first time. Aw well.

SPEAKER_03:

Um I don't think so. Human rights is a thing.

SPEAKER_04:

Not a war machine land.

SPEAKER_03:

I was gonna say, apparently not. Uh well, to be fair, they are wanted for the hounds are wanted for war crimes.

SPEAKER_01:

Actually, the whole SKS is wanted for war crimes. Yeah, but they were buddy buddy with the Hellslingers like a week ago.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, that's true. No, it was the Gravediggers.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, Hellslingers.

SPEAKER_03:

No. No, that's Alistair. They were with um, oh, what's his name? Hasker, I think. Okay. I think it was Buck Hasker that they were with. Don't quote me on that. I haven't I I looked at it, I didn't actually get to read it, but I want to say it was Buck Hasker. Yeah, I didn't read it either. I just saw Signar's like, no. Yeah, yeah, they they teamed up to fight off Orgoth.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Which I was like, oh, that's gonna be fun. I I do want to read it. But I did glance at the end.

SPEAKER_01:

Maybe if Orsis is involved.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know. But I know uh Zahara is doing some serious work. And she's yeah. Anyways, I I gotta read it. I don't want to go too far into that. But jumping back to Craghorn, he's got like this whole tragic backstory. And uh, Chris, I'm assuming you did not read it. I did read it. Oh, really? Impressive. I did. Well, just looking at the blank expression, that's why I went with that. Uh, I assume you didn't read it. You might have gotten to the best part of this. Oh, I'm I'm getting there right now, because that's the reason why I addressed you. Was a certain someone shows up to try to recruit Craghorn. That's true. And then gets rejected. The first time. Yes. Which I found to be impressive. That the fact that he was like told a, you know, politely shove off. Politely declined. Yes. And it says he politely declined and then went to become a merc. Which Oh, I understand, but you could have been so much better. But then he jumps in and then signs up and starts doing work. Which, by the way, did you read what kind of unit that he specializes, what kind of dire trolls he specializes in using?

SPEAKER_04:

Reddit, yes. Remember? No.

SPEAKER_03:

Ah. The way I interpret it was like a dozer and smig kind of group.

SPEAKER_04:

As it should.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes. And I was like, oh, I wonder. I was talking with Angus about this earlier. It would be a pretty easy thing to do, is have a dozer and smig come back. And I know you've requested what I'm saying. And it's there. It's pigs riding trolls, shooting stuff. Hey, this could be a thing. Gunborn's back.

SPEAKER_04:

It's not an a stretch to have Dozer come back.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, and the other thing is, is if our listeners do know if anything did happen to Dozer and Smig, let us know because I would like to find out. If he's dead, that makes sense why he's not gonna show back up.

SPEAKER_04:

I don't want to know if he's dead.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, here's the thing. They have Gunborn, and that's his bonded group. Or his bonded troll. Unless if he died, I can see him coming back. Amen. So there's something there. Hopefully, fingers crossed, we get a dozer and smeg, because I think that would be kind of fun.

SPEAKER_04:

That'd be awesome.

SPEAKER_03:

But we'll see. Your interpretation, Angus? Of Craghorn?

SPEAKER_01:

You are really not about the trolls. I really am not. Um I think some of them look cool, like the Warbeast are great. And the guy who's chucking like the shells, that's a fantastic model. But I just don't like trolls.

SPEAKER_03:

No, I I get it.

SPEAKER_04:

He's just being secretive because he's actually gonna bust him out one day. It's gonna be fully fully painted troll army.

SPEAKER_03:

He's gonna have like 200 points. He's gonna have like three mountain king or fortress kings, it's gonna be like this super epic level army. With just dead Kator later down that remote. Correct. Yep. This seems unlikely.

SPEAKER_02:

This is true. This is very true.

SPEAKER_03:

The fact that there he would sacrifice a Kator model, Kador model, whatever. I would donate the K Dor models to do that. I have been donating my uh old Kator models to Angus because I'm like, I'm never gonna play these. I've played SKS, and when I have played SKS, I've done really well, but it's it's still like eh. Yeah. It's not my thing. But I have enjoyed everything else, and I do enjoy seeing the new Kith Guard coming, which I have placed the order on that, and we're gonna get going with that. Well, I think that's pretty much all I want to cover on Craghorn for now. Eventually we will dive further into them and definitely encompass a little bit more into it and see where we want to go with some of this stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

Especially I can't wait for that box to come out. Kith Guard. Well, three of us included Magnus. Yeah. Yep. He secretly ordered three boxes.

SPEAKER_01:

It's true. I won't lie, I was momentarily tempted because the mechanics seemed super cool.

SPEAKER_03:

I I mean, I do think that it's gonna be really interesting. I really want to see the rules for the trapdoors. I'm they've gotta be there, it's gotta be a wicked little placement.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Mechanically, the trolls look awesome. I just can't bring myself to actually like build or paint them.

SPEAKER_03:

So I mean, building, they're probably gonna be like one piece. Still too much. Gluing them to the base is too much effort.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep. No waste of glue.

SPEAKER_03:

Says the guy with the largest. I was gonna say, I was like, says the guy with the most trolls I know. This is the best use of glue in my opinion. Yeah, so many trolls. Yeah. Another thing that I actually want to have the listeners know is thank you to everyone that has been listening. I've talked about all sorts of milestones that we've hit. I haven't talked about it in a little while. Uh we hit a thousand downloads, we've had 2,500 downloads, and we've hit another milestone where I have unlocked the ability to place ads into it to help partially recover some of my expenses into this. The company seemed fine, but I just did not like the way and the manner in which it was. But that being said, as a way of doing things, I thought about, hey, as an option to kind of help recoup some of the money and I put in there. There's those little things where people have put on Patreons, and I've joked around about it in the past saying, hey, we're gonna start a Patreon. Well, you know what, there is some merit to that, and it will definitely help me out in the long run, and start helping us with some of the goals that we want to do moving forward, uh, with expenses of potentially traveling to go to other conventions and seeing things like that. So I am going to be starting a buy me a coffee, which that you can go ahead, you can donate money to it, and it comes to us directly, and we'll be able to utilize that to put towards new equipment, upgrading the equipment, and building out further. And then also, I am toying around with a Patreon where I'm gonna set up different tiers and it will give you different access to different things, all a thought process, none of that is going to be in the works, but I do think I am going to start the buy me a coffee. If the listeners do want to contribute in that way, that would be great. And then I don't have to plug in ads. That is my central goal, is I don't want to have to do that. But at the same point, it might be a thing, because the more episodes we put out, the longer the episodes are, the more my hosting platform charges for that. So to continue to keep releasing longer and higher content, it costs me more and more money to do that, which is fine. But my goal is to basically have this show become self-funded. If it's through ads, that's great. Through listener contribution, that would be even better, because then we don't have to deal with that. But little thoughts. And I know for the most part, I've talked with Chris and Angus, and they're pretty much in agreement that there's no real reason to run ads if we don't have to. Yeah. But that is uh kind of a state of the things. And again, this is me being very transparent, sharing where we are as far as a podcast goes, and what the near potential future looks like.

SPEAKER_01:

I think we should definitely have a Patreon tier where you can submit lists to us for us to review on an episode, and we will review it poorly.

SPEAKER_03:

I mean, maybe if that's something that they would uh want to hear, then sure. You know, shoot us a message, let us know your thoughts and input, and we will definitely continue to take a peek at this and to go from there. I know some of the other people that I've listened to, they haven't done it. I know some of the other ones have, they have Patreons and things like that, which I think is great. Uh, helps them support their endeavors that they're doing. And especially with us, and we're looking at getting tournaments fired up and things around that corner, that's again more and more expensive for us to continue to do. And we're looking at potentially price support, and depending on where we're gonna go with these things, the more I can do the better. And uh, unfortunately, you know, wife and three kids, it makes things a little bit more difficult. But I'm here for it. I'm gonna continue doing what we're doing, regardless. But let me know if this is something that would be helpful into the future. You guys got anything else for me?

SPEAKER_04:

Nope, that's it. I think we're good.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay. Yeah, this is a fairly short episode. This is, you know, coming out of the new year and us basically sitting down while we're under the thumb of the new tournament, trying to get everything knocked out and get everything play tested in between now and then. But I do know that we've got some games done. Uh oh, we also did record a video of us streaming, which I have the I have possession of the video. It's almost four hours long.

SPEAKER_01:

Needs to be edited down a little bit.

SPEAKER_03:

Yep. So we're there I know there is some I I want to say there's at least 30 minutes of dead air of where you just hear us talking in the background, and yeah, it's just one continuous live feed. Uh Angus was playing a uh customer of the shop named Matt. Yes. And then uh you guys were play testing for the tournament coming up, and then I came on for round two, and I played Matt as well. And I used my Hellslingers, and he used what was the guy's name from Dusk?

SPEAKER_01:

Hezrath, I think.

SPEAKER_03:

Hezrath, something like that.

SPEAKER_01:

Not really good on my elves.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I think it was Hazrath.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, so it's that guy, and it uh definitely went it went pretty well. Um, but that's also something that we're gonna be working on and seeing about getting some video footage up and taking a look at that. I'm not exactly sure where we're gonna host the videos yet. That might be something for a Patreon. I don't know. Seems like a good tier to me. But we'll see what we're gonna do with this stuff. And uh again, uh looking into videos, that's gonna be something different. And even then, uh there's a lot going on, and we're working on a lot of stuff behind the scenes and trying to build this to be bigger and better. And uh, we couldn't have done this without you guys and your general uh encouragement and listening. So please go on to uh any of the listening platforms you have, rate us, review us. As I said, if you rate us five stars, I'll read it out on Apple Podcasts as long as it's appropriate. And then I will also go ahead and if you do uh make a comment on one of the other ones, I will read it out. Sometimes there's a lot of them, so it's a little hard for me to find them all pretty quickly. So if you shoot us a message or an email, I will definitely be able to jump over there, get it down, and then I'll read on the next episode. And that definitely helps us continue to grow and continue to be seen, which helps us continue doing what we're doing. All the help is greatly appreciated. On that note, that's all I got, guys.

SPEAKER_01:

Have a good one. Have a good one.

SPEAKER_03:

All right, have a good day.
