Not Just Tactics

Keynote Reactions And Kithguard Hype

Tony Muno & Joe Lee Episode 14

Send us a text

A keynote that actually moves the needle deserves more than a hot take, so we sat down and unpacked every change that will shape your next army choice and your next turn. From Kithguard’s midturn ambushes and trapdoor mind games to Crucible Guard’s unshakable status pressure and doubled status damage, there’s real meta movement ahead and a big skill ceiling for players who love sequencing.

We also get practical. Physical rulebooks vs app convenience isn’t a meme when you’re on the clock; clear indexing, fast links, and fewer crashes decide how smoothly games run. The plan to bring in a new app partner, split legacy and prime to reduce load, and focus on performance is exactly the kind of fix that helps every match. Forgefire cards are delayed, but the team’s message is quality over speed, which we support when physical tools need to be fast, durable, and readable.

Model reveals brought equal parts nostalgia and ambition. Deathjack scales up into true menace, the Orgoth “Turkey Dragon” stomps into the spotlight, and Thunderhead crackles with drones and an energy field that demands board respect. Old Umbrey Vilkul stirs debate on aesthetics, while Kithguard lands as a mechanics-forward faction that rewards foresight. The January rules update removes the spell rack and rebalances underplayed casters, aiming to reduce pregame paralysis and center identity-driven lists. And yes, Menoth is back on the horizon, with details locked for Adepticon, plus a narrative campaign that rolls out a tank-riding general ready to be the caster of old, while we hold our breath for the results of Admiral Boomhowler.

If you care about faster tools, sharper rules, and factions that make every inch matter, this conversation is for you. Hit play, tell us what shocked you most, and if you enjoy the show, follow, share it with a friend who plays, and leave a quick rating—what reveal changes your list first?

SPEAKER_02:

Hey there listeners, NJT here, bringing you fresh perspectives on all things war machine and building the community we surround ourselves with. Remember, we're not just tactics. Hey Angus. Hey Tony. Hey Chris. Hey Tony. What's going on, guys? Just finished watching the keynote. It too. Pretty spicy. Super excited. Yeah. Pretty spicy. I liked a lot of the things I saw. Everything looks pretty good. Some promising things and a little bit of controversy as well. Cuddles 2 looks pretty great. Uh Cuddles 2 looks really great. Especially uh since we're now able to look at the rules and to see a little bit out there. War Machine merch. T-shirts, hoodies. I mean, pretty much every company and business pretty much runs that. Some of our listeners have gotten NJT stuff. You know, we're we're we're putting our name out there.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. I don't think I've seen any of them before. Even Privateer had it, they really didn't do shirts and stuff, did they?

SPEAKER_02:

They did. They they had like, I want to say private shirt.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, they had some stuff, but it was very limited. I know they had like mugs too with like the little faction logos and stuff on them, but they didn't really go like too heavy into merch.

SPEAKER_02:

No. But here's the thing. I would definitely wear a war machine hoodie, a war machine shirt. Yeah. Maybe not necessarily some of the faction, like there was a what was one of the ones that was on the preview. You don't want a cuddles t-shirt? It was the old Death Jack shirt. I was like, ah, maybe, maybe not. I don't know. I am into Cricks now, but I don't know if I'm gonna go for the old Deathjack P3 paints. Looks like that stuff's going pretty strong, going really well.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't have any of the new ones. I have their old ones that still work really well.

SPEAKER_04:

I have several copies of the complete old P3 line. Back from Privateer Press? Yep. Okay. Yeah, those were good paints. They're good paints. Except for the metallics. The metallics weren't very good.

SPEAKER_02:

So I think the metallics are coming out in their Wave 2, and that's the one that's getting ready to come out real soon. And they said that it was still open for pledges. So you could still jump in, look at getting some of those. I don't utilize, you know, your traditional style painting, but I'm interested to see how they look, how they work, and kind of go from there.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

If I stumble across them, I'll probably try them, but not gonna go out of my way to find them.

SPEAKER_02:

I think I think one of the stores that I visit does have them. I'll have to take a look.

SPEAKER_03:

I'll report back. And then some of the companies, like like you said, their metallics aren't good, but their other ones are good. So there's some companies that like will do metallics really well, but their other stuff is not so great. And then vice versa.

SPEAKER_04:

So the Army Painter does great metallics and their regular colors are hit or miss.

SPEAKER_02:

How they blend together.

SPEAKER_03:

Is the new P3 paints the same formula?

SPEAKER_02:

No, I think they got reworked, and it's supposed to be much better. But if the old one was better, if the old one was really good, I'd like to see what they are currently. Yeah. If we get our hands on some, we'll give it a shot and we'll see what they look like.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Looks like the new rule book is coming out in December 11th. Yep. Amen. Yeah. I've got three orders copied or three orders book. Pre-ordered? Three books pre-ordered. I'm going to get two for myself. I got one for Chris here. Did you get one, Angus?

SPEAKER_04:

No, but I'll take one of yours.

SPEAKER_02:

We'll see. We'll see. Because I know I'm going to be keeping one for myself. I might be giving it to the boys.

SPEAKER_03:

We'll see. I just love those hard copies of the stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

See, I agree. I think those I do a lot better having the physical tangible book. There's less distractions, there's less interaction. Yeah and expect to find things. I would agree because once you're like, oh, this is on this page, you can market. Now I will say this about the electronic is the quick linking. I love that when it works. Correct. But or it'll be like you click here and it takes you to this part, which then it takes you to a sublink that you have to go to to find the actual rule. So you're finding three steps instead of one direct link. Right. Which I understand because it takes you to a section where the link is, and then you gotta follow that over. But yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Sometimes I find the app to be very convenient. Other times I get very frustrated with it.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, speaking of that, we'll jump ahead a little bit in the the notes here, but it looks like they're gonna be bringing on a new company to help them with the app. There was definitely some talk about the app having issues and they like some of the things, they don't like other parts of it. We'll see what happens with this new company. I wouldn't expect any dramatic changes over at least the next two quarters. Let's keep our eyes out on that.

SPEAKER_03:

I like the fact that they're just like well aware of the issues. It's not like it's fine. Well, and they're like conscious of like, okay, this is an issue, and well, you gotta remember these guys are actually out there playing these games too.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, you've got Jamie Perkins, he's out there, he's been competing, he's playing, he's doing all this stuff. And when you see involvement at that level, that to me shows a very active, rich culture of their business, and it also shows that they're boots on the ground. They're not just sitting here sitting up in a high tower looking down at it, being like, oh, cool. No, these guys are actively sitting here playing, actually getting in on it and knowing what's going on. Yeah. When you have that level of commitment and involvement, you know how it's going to impact things. Right. That's big.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, isn't like a big part of the problem with the uh loading issues, the fact that there's all that legacy stuff in there?

SPEAKER_02:

I do believe so. And I do believe that there was mention, maybe was it at Adepticon? But they said something that they were talking about having it split into two apps where you would have the legacy stuff in one section and Prime in another, but being able to reduce the overhead volume, so having your legacy armies all exist in one and your modern Mark IV Prime in another.

SPEAKER_04:

I'd be a little heartbroken if they got rid of all the legacy stuff from the app.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I I think that they were talking about having two separate apps.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, okay with that.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I don't think they're getting r they won't be getting rid of it, but they're gonna be breaking it up, it sounds like. That might be why they have a new app company coming in, is to see about how to integrate it, how to split it, and go from there. That'd be cool. I mean a faster load time would be great, because there's nothing worse than sitting there, you're going through your turn, your phone times out, and then you gotta reload, and now you gotta sit there for 30 seconds just staring at your opponent because you're like, eh, hold on, I'll mark down the five damage here in a second, the box five. Hold on.

SPEAKER_04:

I think when Privateer Press started using an app, you could download like various catalogs.

SPEAKER_03:

That's right.

SPEAKER_04:

You'd go that route and you can just download the catalogs you want instead of just having everything that's trying to load up at once.

SPEAKER_03:

That's right. You had to like go through like pick your army and they just like give you all the cards for your particular faction.

SPEAKER_02:

The organized play kit. They talked about how that's coming, and we actually just received ours today. We're going to be diving a little bit into that, probably on another episode. Tokens look good, looks like, in my opinion, came from broken egg games.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that'd be my assumption. Yeah, that was some good stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. Looks nice, got some nice little promo stuff inside there, but we'll be posting some pictures. The press gangers, they did an update on that. They're talking about having a Q1 2026 completion time for when it should be going live. They're gonna be starting the testing real soon. They also had it set up with the website pressganger.com. I went to that and it takes you to Steamforge into a blank page that the website isn't live yet, at least when I checked it at the time. That might be something that's coming out here in the near future. It might be something that they're getting ready for. So that program does not currently exist.

SPEAKER_03:

It does not. Okay. So they're re-bringing back that program. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Their marketing or whatever. Okay. So we'll definitely have to watch and see what happens coming out here.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Next up was old Umbre.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. They showed off the uh colossal.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. The 120mm base gorger. That one looks pretty interesting. It's gonna have multiple different heads, it's gonna have a few different options. What did they say was 29 points? Uh I don't remember. Which that's gonna be a little lower, because I want to say most of them are upwards of like 30. I don't know what the new ones are.

SPEAKER_04:

The old ones were twenty-eight.

SPEAKER_02:

I was gonna say, I'm like, maybe not. Maybe not.

SPEAKER_04:

I feel like they're usually like in the you know, twenty-seven to thirty-one point range for a colossal. What was the victor? I think he's twenty-seven. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Because my sea kings and stuff are all twenty-eight.

SPEAKER_02:

I was gonna say, I'm like, those were the older ones, but I'm trying to think of what the Abyssal King is. The Abyssal King's twenty-eight to thirty-one. So I guess it's right around the normal points there.

SPEAKER_03:

Just shy of a third of your army.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. And there's somebody who was running two of them.

SPEAKER_04:

For my legacy Cador, I fully intend to run two Vicars. My second Vicar arrived today. So it's happening. It's gonna be great. That's tremendous.

SPEAKER_02:

Thought that looked pretty interesting.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm curious if that'll show up on the uh my mini factory at some point.

SPEAKER_03:

What's it for?

SPEAKER_02:

Old Bray. Yeah. It's one of their uh war beasts. It's the uh character war beast that comes in the command starter. Bodon.

SPEAKER_03:

I think that was before my link went live. So I'm sitting there like refreshing the YouTube thing, and Angus is like, it's on right now. Like, I don't see it. I go back and they hit something else. I awkwardly, there it is. Maybe it starts in an hour. No man, it's on. No. Like, I don't see it. Like I'm hitting refresh.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he's hitting refresh on like the actual YouTube page. He's just like loading YouTube over and over again, just not the actual like war machine page. Right. There's also the the new Vilcule model, which is gonna be the old ombre version, where she's wearing all the fur and scot her axes out. That looked pretty sick. Yeah. The green though, because it was green.

unknown:

Oh.

SPEAKER_04:

It's foresty.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

It didn't really strike my fancy, but maybe that's because it would still seem out of place alongside the rest of her crew. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02:

I like the model, but I agree. I don't think it fits. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

It really looks weird when she's hanging out with the jackal and the Jack and I don't know.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, especially if you put her with Razor out there. For a different character, it would work. Yeah, I I don't know. I I like the model. I just I think it looks a little off.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Maybe seeing it next to some of the models or seeing it actually surrounded with something else, I might be wrong, but my opinion is it is it looks a little off still.

SPEAKER_03:

And that's her solo version, right?

SPEAKER_02:

Yes. Yeah. Unless if they intend on making her some sort of full-fledged caster in Old Umbreight, but I don't see that because they made her a journeyman. Yeah. Yeah. Then they released The Kith Guard. Heck yeah. Which there is a lot to unpack with Kith Guard, which we did call that we were hoping that we were going to see the command starter. I was not disappointed. It's gonna be funny because if we release this, the episode that we recorded, it's not gonna show up. It's not gonna be there. It's gonna it's gonna be like, we hope that they say this at this time. And we're releasing this early. Yeah. Details. Yeah. Just in case, if we do release this in time to come out on Monday, then it will be a little bit. The episode might show a little weird. You will not hear our prophecy. Yeah. You'll you'll hear us predict things that we've already are already talking about now. Yep. Not a big deal. But just in case, if that's what happens, you'll understand why.

SPEAKER_04:

All that means is you just have to go back and re-edit all the future episodes.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh god.

SPEAKER_04:

I do not.

SPEAKER_02:

We're trying to build a little bit of a backlog, so so that way my stress load goes down a little bit, but we'll see what happens. Kith Guard. We were hoping that we're gonna see the command starter, and we did. We did. You got okay. I I don't I don't know how he said his name. I want to say it was Sergeant Craghorn.

SPEAKER_03:

That sounds right.

SPEAKER_02:

But then I also thought I heard him say crackhorn.

SPEAKER_03:

But I think I did hear both.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes, and so that's the reason I was like, ooh, I don't know if it's Crag or Crackhorn, but something Sergeant Horn.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh I think it was written down at some point, but I just don't remember. From the week spelled it.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I I no, I didn't see any of that. They they didn't write it down. Oh, there was one point that had like well, we when we get to it, it had like the beast. Yeah. It has like his name. Correct.

SPEAKER_02:

They didn't have his.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, they oh.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they had everyone else besides him. Which I was like great. Right.

SPEAKER_03:

The one guy we don't know.

SPEAKER_02:

Right, right, right. Find out. Well, and we also didn't know who the units names are. They only said the unit name.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, that's true.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. Um, but Sergeant Craghorn, his rules sound really interesting. You can ambush midturn. Yes. Normally you have to do it right away in the beginning of your phase. Now you can do it whenever. All of a sudden you're starting to play through and you're like, oh man, this is not going well. Boop, drop them in. Also, he can put trapdoors in his control range. Yeah, that was for his feet, right? I do believe so. That's gonna be wild. Yeah, because now all of a sudden you pop your feet, and then now you can guys have just pop up and ambush out these trapdoors, and that's gonna be a big, big problem for a lot of people.

SPEAKER_04:

It makes me want to try them out. Like, I was not expecting to be terribly interested in Kithguard, but that mechanic sounds super nifty.

SPEAKER_02:

They did say that this is going to be a higher skill cap army, but it's also gonna have that wild swing that to learn them and to play them well is gonna be difficult, but when you do, they're gonna play really, really well. Yeah. You don't know how to play them very well, you're probably gonna get messed up. Which is, I mean, which is fine. I I like having those skill caps.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Sometimes there's a learning curve, and you know, sometimes you just gotta get stomped on a few times to figure your stuff out.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, absolutely. I I've been on record saying that I couldn't figure out how to get foul blows feet, and I'm like, you know what? I now play him at turn two.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

It just for how I play, that's how I found it to work. And it just takes time, practice, patience, and then you eventually figure it out.

SPEAKER_03:

It's takes experience to figure out, like, oh yeah, I want this effect at this point, and then you kind of figure out where it goes. Yeah. But with that ambush thing, I know they didn't allude to it, but kind of makes me think, is it gonna be like you get to pick where you pop out, or is there gonna be some kind of like randomization, like, hey, that you could pop up in this trapdoor, you could pop up in this trapdoor?

SPEAKER_02:

I would assume that the placement of trapdoors is gonna be done by you placing them like little markers, and then you will be able to pick which one you're gonna be going out of.

SPEAKER_03:

I hope so.

SPEAKER_02:

And then because the normal ambush rule is you get to pick what side you're coming out of, and then you have to be within, I believe it's like three inches of it.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, back when the I went to the Batman game, they had like the sewers. Yes. And like you went in the sewer, and you could pop up any other sewer, or was it like I believe you could pick which sewer or cap you popped up out of. But that was a cool mechanic. It was this is very similar to that. You kind of like finagle your waist around the board.

SPEAKER_02:

And it might be. You might like go up to a trapdoor and drop off the map, but then you could pop up somewhere else. We don't know. We'll have to wait until it actually shows up and get it on the field.

SPEAKER_03:

What if you had a solo that was a trapdoor? Like they just buy trapdoors for your army. And you can just like set them up, like pre-ambush them, and they're just like up there.

SPEAKER_02:

That actually kind of goes into an interesting point, because it's possible for their solos, they've got rattles, which is the little pig with the pickaxe that you saw. With the candle on his head? Yeah. He's got ambush, and he's got the ability to dig out trapdoors. I'm telling you, that'd be awesome. Right. So you're gonna be able to use him, and he's probably gonna just start dropping trapdoors in certain locations, and you're just having him like run around the map dropping off trapdoors.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I can see that definitely working like the uh gravedigger's airdrops where you pay the points for them, and then you can drop them periodically throughout the board.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. That would be interesting. Then their other solo that they had was Corporal Rude Feli. I was gonna call him Rudd, but then I heard him say Rude, and so I wrote down in my notation proper pronunciation. They didn't really specify much about him other than his sniper is gonna be three damage. You can take the automatic three damage and take that, which I was like, oh, that's gonna be great for just heavily armored things or things you know you can drop. Yeah. Go with a surefire bet. That model looks really cool. Yes, it does. I like how he's got the little fox on him and he's just hanging out on top.

SPEAKER_03:

Quasi-ghillieweed suit with the sniper rifle and stuff. Oh, yeah. That looks awesome.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, looks really good. I I will I I'm every single one of those models looks amazing. Yeah. Now, I will say this. Their heavy war beast, which is Clangor.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Clangor. It's a really good-looking model. I don't think it really fits the aesthetic. Because he's not he doesn't have that jungle troll vibe, at least from what I could see. Don't get me wrong. He's got the jungle bowie knife. Yeah, he's got a he's got a big sword. Well, no, and then he's got those little bombs that he's gonna be hucking. It's like little stick bombs. Oh, they look like little uh like almost like football bombs. Like you would see them dropped.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, did they?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they they look like those to me. Now I could be wrong, but he's like holding the blade, and and I I like I like how when they were releasing him, they're like brutal charge, powerful charge, and the guy's like, I don't know. I was like, he's like, okay, and they just move on. But then he he hucks bombs, which I I really like, and he's got reload. Yeah, which is gonna be great, and they're all AoE things. I don't know. I think he fits the aesthetic, honestly. I I wanted to see him more with like you saw the other models that they had, the other war beasts, those to me looked a little more fitting.

SPEAKER_05:

That's good.

SPEAKER_02:

They all had feral. Correct. He looks more feral than organized. Yeah. And all the other ones looked more like militaristic. They look like more organized. This one just seems more feral.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, but I mean, if you look at a lot of pictures of like artillery crews from like World War II in Vietnam, the standards are a lot more relaxed as far as uniforms go a lot of the time.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, and I I agree. And that's why even when you look at all these models, they all look a little chaotic, which is great, because again, it's very troll-like. It just it it just to me, for the aesthetic, it just seemed a little off. Like if you gave him a headband or something, then I think he would have fit in more. It just it just seemed uh just a regular troll.

SPEAKER_04:

Fair enough. Yeah. I don't know. I saw it and I just immediately thought of the uh danger close movie. I don't know. That's another movie I haven't seen. You should watch it. It's got uh Ragnar from Vikings.

SPEAKER_05:

Hmm.

SPEAKER_04:

Really?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah. I was amazing.

SPEAKER_02:

I have not seen I've only seen a little bit of Vikings. I haven't seen a whole lot.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh yeah. I'm looking at the picture now. It does kind of look footballish. Yeah. Yeah. It originally looked like the stick bombs from like the old 40k orcs.

SPEAKER_02:

One of the older what I want to say another one of the models has it. Has this yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

I want to say pipe bomb, but I'm like, it's not a pipe bomb.

SPEAKER_02:

No, no, no. It's a stick grenade. There it was a old uh what was it? This the Germans had stick grenades, I want to say, back in World War II. Yeah. I like the fact that he's gonna have reload with those bombs. He's got that big, big blade, and they've even said he's gonna be a handful, which I like hearing. I re I really like hearing when they're like, this guy's gonna be a problem. I love that.

SPEAKER_03:

Um fight chum.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. I mean, he's gonna be raining football bombs on Chum, and then he's gonna charge up with a knife and it's gonna be real bad. I'm gonna try at least. Yeah. Who says that we're not gonna have two of these out there, granted characters, but then there's the scrappers unit. Don't know a whole lot about them other than they have the ability backstab, which on the turn that they ambush, they get plus two to attack and damage rolls.

SPEAKER_03:

These guys are got sticks of dynamite.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. They've got all sorts of sticks.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. I remember even saying when these guys spring up from a a trapdoor, it's gonna be pretty gnarly. So I'm looking forward to these guys too.

SPEAKER_02:

And I'm wondering if with these trapdoors, I wonder if they're gonna uh not necessarily lose that benefit. I'm wondering if they're gonna be able to move and attack. They might not be able to charge, but they might be able to move and attack if they come out of a out of a trapdoor. Yeah. Little food thoughts, a little experiments there, let's see what happens. Pop up and start chucking some dynamite at people. Yeah. Well, because it when you come in, you can attack or you can move.

unknown:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

But if you're coming in from there, maybe you get both. Maybe it's just a closer way to be to units, and that way you can attack. I'm not really sure.

SPEAKER_03:

Can't wait to hear it though.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. I'm we just gotta wait a few more months, because I believe it's February still.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I think they said that's when the first, or at least this command box comes out.

SPEAKER_02:

They went back over the the partners. They retouched on the deep cut studios for mats. Those are being done primarily for like the UK, but they will ship to America. Frontline gaming, those mats, which one of which I just picked up. Looks great, by the way. Yeah, I was very, very happy with it. I got to play a game with it. Looks good, feels good. But you didn't play with your Cricks, did you? No, I I was playing uh I didn't want to. Yep. I threw down the uh fully painted SKS. Yep. So they uh they made their first fully painted appearance. And they won their debut, did they not? And they did. I can cover that real quick. They were playing against my buddy who was using my Brine Bloods, and he was definitely giving me a lot of pause and thought because I I he's getting to the point now because he's played enough games that I now have to stop necessarily teaching him because now I need to focus on how to play him. And it would be better, sir, for me to not play and to have somebody else play, and I can coach him a little bit better. So I can focus on what the rules are, because at the end of it, after I killed him, I realized I was like, oh no, I probably wouldn't have killed you because you have stumbling drunk, and it it completely spaced my mind because I was focused on my rules, not his rules. And there was no way he should have been still in melee combat, he should have been gone. Um like I might have gotten one, maybe two hits.

SPEAKER_04:

Meh.

SPEAKER_02:

Minor details. Yeah, and and so I told him, I was like, hey, like, my bad. And he's like, hey, it's cool. And I was like, yeah, but it wasn't until we after we packed up and wrapped up the game that I was like, oh no. And I told him, I was like, I was I was just so focused on my aspect that I did you a disservice. He's like, oh no, man, he's like, it's cool.

SPEAKER_03:

So kind of go back to like as you're teaching people and trying to focus on rules and stuff. So I was playing with my son like last weekend or whatever. I was kind of coaching him along and stuff, and got to a point he charged like his chosen guys into my things and we're going. Then we go to the next round. I'm like, oh dude, you're supposed to get extra dice on that charge. He's like, dude. Like, yeah, you probably actually probably could have killed this thing last time. Read your rules, Tom. It's one of those things like you you just blank on some things when you're trying to like teach the other people, like while you're in it, too.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. It's like, uh there's too much division. Like you're you're trying to play and you're trying to give them a good experience and not just throwing the game, but also at the same point, you're trying to remember your rules, their rules, and things just there's a lot. Yeah. And we all know I don't remember rules to begin with. So well, it it's definitely one of those things that it it gets really I don't want to say it it's very exciting and it's very fun. And it it's definitely once you start like some of these people can tell you all the rules and they they've got it all memorized, and I'm fascinated by that. Like I I can't. Absolutely. Like I'm not that guy. And when I have my army, I'm usually really good because it's the one that I'm working with. Then it's trying to remember that all the game rules on top of that, and then you're trying to figure out what their rules are, and that's where it gets to be a little clunky.

SPEAKER_03:

Especially with some of the newer armies that people in our group don't have. Like when somebody will bring one of those out, it was like, I have no concept of what they're even capable of. That was that was me. Oh, okay. Well, that's cool.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, remember remember the next time he can do that. Yeah, that was that was me playing the one guy with Oregoth. I've never played Oregoth before. I've never seen Orgoth. Well, I've seen Oregoth, but I've never like fought them before, and it was just crazy. He started explaining to me, like, oh, they have two entries, three. Like, I'm like, what? I I it just it blew my mind because these were all things I've never seen, and he explained everything to me in detail, and I was like, holy Mary. Right, yeah, like I am not gonna do well here. And he just opened up and I was able to sneak in and you know, seal the deal with the assassinate, but still. You are not prepared. Oh, I was not because I was like, I'm gonna be playing my kid, and it's like, yo, you're gonna be playing this guy with Orgoth.

SPEAKER_01:

I was like, Oh.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay.

SPEAKER_01:

All right. Cool.

SPEAKER_03:

But yeah, that's some of the fun about just like going out to the shops and in the community and stuff. You just play against stuff you would not play at regularly.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. We all know roughly what we're gonna be playing against as far as our local gaming group goes.

SPEAKER_04:

Do we though? Like most of us have so many armies now, it's just yeah, a crapshoot is the whole remember.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, yeah, but I mean, like, I know Chris is gonna show up with either Legion or Trolls. Right. I know Paul Paul has significantly more armies, but I'm assuming he's gonna be showing up with trolls and now probably Dusk.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

You are probably showing up with Crix or Cador. Or now Orgoth. Right. Which those are just around the corner. But this is saying typically, I know that those just showed up. Has your box come? Well. Paul ordered it.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh. You have the other half of his. Yeah. So Sunday I'll get my mummies.

SPEAKER_02:

There you go. Perfect. And then I will typically either play my Brian Bloods or I'll throw out Segnar. But I have to be the monkey right now. Right. And then there's Chimera, Brian Bloods, Segnar, Cador, Crix, Syphilax. At this point, you can build Dusk.

SPEAKER_03:

Who is everybody else playing? Alright, I'll bust out these guys instead.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. It's Dusk, Fane, Nero, and then uh also the Orgoth uh mummies, which are the Reaper Covenant.

SPEAKER_04:

Sounds right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

So I I'm legitimately gonna be stacked up with armies. I think I I was gonna be at like eight or nine by the time I was all done. Perfect. Oh, Kithguard. That's another one I'm gonna be getting. So there's that.

SPEAKER_04:

Don't worry, I'll do that one for you.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

And I'll be doing Crucible Guard. I bought the STLs today.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, that's right. That's right. They finally went live. Yeah. Which actually, after once I finish that, we're gonna talk about Crucible Guard. So jumping back to the partners, they have the war mag for magnetic trays. If you need things to transport your armies, that's what they're recommending. I don't have any of their stuff, but looks good.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, some of those partners I I had not heard of before, but their stuff looked cool.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, some of the they are they were kind of like recapping on some of the stuff. There was only a couple new ones, but they've they've talked about deep cuts, I want to say a month or two ago.

SPEAKER_04:

I think War Mag is in Europe, so getting that here in the States is going to be challenging.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I'm I'm not sure where they're out of. I haven't I haven't really looked at them because I already have all my foam trays, I've got my magnet carriers. I'm not in the need for one right now.

SPEAKER_03:

I did just as well on Amazon too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh Baron of Sheets. Yep. Yeah. I have many of those as well. Uh Baron of Dice for Dice, which all that stuff is always great. It always looks good. Uh my opinion, they roll really well. Uh not necessarily in my favor, but they they roll nicely.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, the quality of those, even if because I have them for other game systems too, but those those dice are just always good.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I've I've just noticed that the hand poured resin. They're they're really good dice. They're expensive, but they are really nice. Yeah. The quality is well. Yep. Broken egg?

SPEAKER_03:

Yep. Big fan of them.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. We've got a lot, I've got some of their templates. We're probably going to be ordering. I shouldn't say probably. We are going to be ordering. Uh gonna be ordering really soon with them. Gonna get some more. Then you're ordered there, guy. Yeah, I know. I gotta go back to their website and I gotta figure out what the actual tokens that I want are. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, because I I actually even had messaged for like your nine arms. So check out our Patreon to support me in this habit that I have.

SPEAKER_04:

No$1,000 of tokens.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Oh man. I know. I know. Do you want the writable ones or do you want the printed ones? Writable. I'm on both. Yes. The writables are cheaper. Oh yeah. I know. I'm already looking at the writables, being like, okay, this is gonna save me a lot of money. I gotta get tokens. I gotta get some of the stuff from them. I'm probably gonna get another set of measurement sticks. That's another measurement widget.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm doing the Legion ones for Tom? Yeah, he wants those. Because he even borrows mine in the thing. Yeah. Could I use your eight? Sure. There you go.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I I like a lot of their stuff. I have been approved to do a review by Broken Egg. And so we'll go ahead, we're gonna place our order, and we'll do a nice little review for people about these items. Cause when I ordered them before, it was before we were doing the podcast, and now that we are, you know, I think it would be good to actually go through, review them, show everyone what you're gonna be getting, posting the photos of it, and kind of explaining how you could utilize these and how they help you in other ways is great, but these make it a lot easier in certain aspects.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Sometimes we do like precision whatever it's like.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, and they can squeak in, you're not looking from top to bottom, you can go base to base. You it it makes it a lot easier for some of these aspects. Yeah. Another one that they partnered with, this is a newer one, is uh Goblin Hobbies. Goblin Hobbies is making decals for War Machine. Dude, I'm down for some trollblood. Well, technically they're making stamps. Is that they're not decals.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, it looks like in the traditional sense.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it looked like to me it looked like it was decal sheets.

SPEAKER_04:

No. Okay. Um basically it's a rubber stamp. Well, it may not be rubber, but it's a stamp of some sort. And then there's a metal sheet, and you put the ink onto the metal sheet, wipe it clean, and then transfer it onto the stamp and then stamp your model with it.

SPEAKER_05:

Huh.

SPEAKER_04:

But it's not like the traditional water slide decal. Put those on the scroll.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I don't know. To be fair on my scroll, I'm just not gonna write repent in big letters, but You're gonna write it all in Rulech, right? That's the troll language, right? No, it's the dwarf language.

SPEAKER_02:

Rulech? Isn't Ruleck the dwarf?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I thought the I thought Rulik was the dwarf language.

SPEAKER_04:

No, Rulech is a war machine thing.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

That's aren't the rulics like the dwarf people? There's like one dwarf in a war machine. Give a whole army. Oh, aren't they in the Mercs or something? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Now I gotta check that out. Hold on, I'm like, hold on.

SPEAKER_03:

But I think a sentence rule the languages of the various factions.

SPEAKER_02:

So I was gonna take the troll language and just like Durgan Madhammer General Osorum Gorton Grundback. Sounds like respectable gentlemen. Yeah, Grundback, Gunner, Gun Dra uh Gunbra back blaster. Gunner those are their war jacks. Sounds like squats to me. Yeah. That's what I thought.

SPEAKER_03:

I thought the rules were like the dwarf people. I don't know. I know each language or each faction has like their own alphabet or whatever.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

But I was gonna take the trollish one and try to write it in trolls. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the trolls use a rulick. Yeah, we'll see how good my freehand gets with that one. Yeah, there there probably is. We're just gonna use an acrylic marker and just Well, what is it?

SPEAKER_02:

Even if you go into like DD for the languages, they're all stemmed off of certain languages. Some stem from giant and other ones stem from certain primordial and It's interesting because I was looking at that like it was decals. But that kind of makes sense because you just paint on and then you tr you transfer it off.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. I saw a video from the Goobertown guy a few months ago where he was showing off the new stamp set.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay.

SPEAKER_04:

Not the war machine one, obviously.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. But it was just something that I was looking at and I was like, that's because when you brought that up, I just looked at it and I was like, oh, that's that's a unique way of doing it. Yeah. Yes, promise. Another one that they had was the Terraniacs. They're making terrain, as you would assume. That was the STL files, right? I believe so. And I think you can also order stuff from them directly. Preprinted or whatever. I think so.

SPEAKER_03:

They'll print it for you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Another one, this is where I've seen a lot of hype right away, is Galactic Armory. They're gonna be making STLs for people to do cosplay in the world of War Machine. So I'm kind of interested to see what they're gonna do with that. I probably won't be doing any cosplay for it, but you don't want giant shoulder pads? I mean, if I'm gonna look like Vlad, no.

SPEAKER_04:

Shameful.

SPEAKER_02:

Print out a giant troll chin. Yes. Absolutely. I will stuck with them. Yeah. I why not? Yeah, I could think of nothing better than to represent my troll. That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I just did a pirate hat. Yeah. I don't have one of those. Which is surprising.

unknown:

Bomber.

SPEAKER_02:

I can hook you up. Yeah. I was gonna say I'm like, out of all of my Renaissance Fair gear, I have no pirate hats. Don't you have a tri hat?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah. Yeah. Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

I've got a pirate hat. I have lots of silly hats. Another thing that we're really excited for. The death of Boomhowler. No. Oh God.

SPEAKER_03:

I am I am legitimately waiting for tomorrow, being like, what are the results? Or at the end, we gotta talk about the narrative thing they did there because there's something that I'm really excited about from that.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh yeah. Well I can't imagine what. Yeah, yeah. Which, yeah, we're almost we're almost there. Forgefire, it's the cards. They are still working on it, and they basically said that they're like, we thought this was gonna be pretty easy. This is much harder than we thought. I am super excited about the cards. They are still working on them, and we are going to get another update in Q1 on them.

SPEAKER_01:

There is no release. Which will be we're still working on this.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and which I you would think, like, oh, okay, but that also tells you that they're taking it very, very seriously. Yeah, they're not gonna half it. Correct. Which I appreciate if you're gonna take a while, it's gonna be good. If you're like, hey, especially when you come out and you're like, all right, so this was a little bit harder than we thought. Right. Awesome. I love that in all aspects. Would I like to have the cards? Yes. I'm sitting here looking at some of my old cards, being like, I could pull these out.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm one of those players that loves the physical stuff on the table in front of you. But I mean, I'll wait for a polished product.

SPEAKER_02:

Absolutely. I I agree. I am more than happy to wait a few more months. You know, for players that have been playing all editions and everything else, I could see where they might be a little agitated and frustrated, but coming back in, new players coming, I could see where this is a good thing for them.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

That leaves us with Crucible Guard.

SPEAKER_04:

Very exciting.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Uh they sound like they are going to be a handful. Dude, those they're gross. Yeah. The fact that if you're in the control range of the caster, you can't shake the effects. Yeah. Your status effects, so if you get set on fire, you're just on fire.

SPEAKER_03:

And then you take double damage from it.

SPEAKER_02:

And then you take double damage on top of that. So not only are you rolling, you know, a POW 12 hit, now whatever it rolls over is now doubled. Yeah, that's wild. That's gonna be bad. It's gonna be great. Now I now with that being said, I'm assuming that you'll still be able to pop the cards that will end the stat uh I forget what that card is.

SPEAKER_03:

Is it like an extinguished fire or something like that? Yeah, it might be put the fires out. That sounds more probably.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it'll it ends a status effect. Yeah. Which it it you don't roll for, but it just puts it out. So it's coming right back. You do it once, I'll almost get it right there. Right. And like you'll be able to stop it for all round, but then you're just getting lit on fire again. Delay the inevitable. Yeah, no shaking status effects, double damage looks like it's gonna be a really bad time.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And I could see this becoming like one of Angus's new favorites to be like, oh, you're on fire, you're on fire, you're on fire, and I'm gonna just step away.

SPEAKER_03:

And again, they look cool. Yes, they look good. Those models, like, I mean, I don't know what they looked like before.

SPEAKER_02:

I wish that they had a little bit more on them. Because when you saw what they had, and then you saw the units that were there, it wasn't everything.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

The ones that they did show was the Triumvirate, which is their character unit, which those guys looked pretty interesting. They had Apollo, which is their heavy warjack.

SPEAKER_04:

Uh no, he's a light jack.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, is he? Oh, that's right. They said he's the light jack. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_04:

He currently has no rules either.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

He's uh new.

SPEAKER_02:

Hey, I was gonna say he's new, isn't he?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, he looked cool.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, as soon as I said heavy, I was like, no, I thought he was light. Yeah. He's the light warjack, looks good. He's got a nifty little gun that's gonna have like all sorts of status effects that he's gonna be putting on people. That you can't extinguish. Right. And then but when you looked at the command starter, they have almost like this golem-looking guy in the back. Yeah, that's Alice.

SPEAKER_04:

There's some nifty looking models coming out with these guys. He starts out as a regular human and then when she dies, she turns into the big beastie. The were beast. Yep.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that it again, I like those kinds of things. I think they're fun. Speaking of when come out, they're finally available now.

SPEAKER_04:

They are. I have them.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he's got the STLs for them. Which I might be like, hey, buddy, let's play Crucible Gun.

SPEAKER_03:

The printers have fired up already.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I guess it's like before I came over, they're already on the printer. They're gonna be done in like two minutes. Gotta go. Sadly, no. They have the new mercenary, which he what it looks like is a true mercenary because he's like pretty much for everyone but Chimera. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

If you're a horse faction, you're out of luck. Yeah, I was gonna say everyone else seems to be good.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it's like Brian Bloods and Chimera are the only ones who can't use him. He looks good.

SPEAKER_03:

The trench coat with the cool hat and the bazooka. Yes. Yeah, yeah. That guy looks cool. I was gonna say, I was like He's gonna blow up your boy. I disagree. I'll blow him up before that happens.

SPEAKER_02:

They have new super heavies coming. Yeah, sorta. Yeah. It's an old model. It's old, some of its older stuff that are coming back in different versions. Because you've got Deathjack, he's coming out in December.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I was saying for the Crucible Guard. Oh the Vulcan um Colossal.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, yes. That one I I saw when did they say it was getting released? Isn't it? December. Yeah, I was gonna say it's next month.

SPEAKER_04:

Which again, super cool release for Crucible Guard. Not the release I need though. Like let's let's get that 30 points up to something where you know I can then effectively take a colossal before we start throwing in colossals.

SPEAKER_02:

Is is that one still a colossal? It is. So the train is a colossal, the other one is a colossal. Yep. Oh man. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

I I don't know what's going on here with this crucible guard release. Yeah. Well at least we have part of it. Eventually I will be very, very happy.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

We will all cry. Just a little frustrated getting there.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Well, at least now we have the 30-pointer that will get everything started so we can get it on the field, and then we'll see what happens when they do the battle group. So you can actually start getting some other jacks out there and start fleshing it out.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. I may just have to take like multiple Apollos just for giggles. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm not necessarily opposed up until 50 points. Yeah. Uh up until I can see what what the rules are. And it might be like stupid broken. I'll be like, no, absolutely not. You can only have one. The look is like, no, we'll just play it with field allowance of infinite. So we can get it. I'm not opposed to 30 points.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, same with those other the new starters that came out.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh well, yeah, we we are gonna be yeah, we're gonna have to. Because once I get my hands on those and I'm gonna start playing them, it I'm gonna have to go back down to 30 points. I'm not gonna be able to figure it out.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm probably jumping ahead, but did they say when like the next box of the new ones? Mummies and whatever. No, they mummies are a long ways out.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, the the Reaper Covenant, they're they're gonna be a ways out. Same thing with uh the Feigned Nero. Yeah. So they throw the command thing out, and it's like, all right.

SPEAKER_04:

Because the elves are like what, May?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I think they're they're a little ways out still. Yeah. But the super heavies, we have the Crix, which is Deathjack, he's coming out in December. Then we've got the Orgoth. Dragon. Yep. Yeah. I I'm not gonna try to pronounce his name. His name. Um chicken. He's coming out in January 2026. We have the Kidorian Behemoth, he's coming out in February 2026. And then we've got Thunderhead.

SPEAKER_04:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

Alright. That's Signar, that's coming out in March 2026.

SPEAKER_03:

But for those fortunate people that were down at Lockenlode this last week, they could be picking up some stuff. And the Orgoth Dragon Turkey. Yeah. So I mean, those are you're gonna be seeing those on some tables coming up.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. Not gonna lie. I thought about going on there this morning.

SPEAKER_02:

I legitimately, had I not had family in town, I absolutely would have been down there.

SPEAKER_03:

As soon as I saw the Deathjack thing on the screen, I'm like, oh I guess it's gonna look like that. I I legitimately I I can just pick him like getting in the car already. It's like, all right. Yeah. As soon as I said this is gonna be available tomorrow, I'm like, all right, he's going. Yeah, I can go camp out in the parking lot. Yeah. Did Spike even have a badge? Nah, he's just here for the Deathjack.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, yeah. We'll have him available for release. Just Angus is just standing in line, like pushing people out of his way to get in. Dude, it's three in the morning. Give him Death Jack. Yeah. I know you have it in there. Let's just make this faster. Yeah, when I saw Deathjack, I was like, oh yeah. And I was like, 20 points? Sweet. Now I'm at 50. I was like, I don't even have to do a whole lot.

SPEAKER_03:

And Pro tip, his stuff is on the app already. Yeah. And Flying Turkey is too.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. I haven't looked at the Orgoth rules yet. I did look at Death Jack. There is some things. Uh Death Jack used to be able to go up to five focus? Four, five? Five. Five. Now he's still down to three, but he generates souls, which he can turn into focus, but it doesn't say anything about him going over cap, which means he's going to be limited to his three. Yeah, that's a little disappointing. He does get the ability to heal D3 for consuming souls, which is nice, and you can do that multiple times just by consuming souls. And then he's got another one that allows him to gobble a soul up, and then he gets to cast one of his three spells for free, which he has uh Annihilation, he has Ghost Walk, and then he has Ghost Walk. Yeah. Like that's the last thing Death Jack needs. Trucking an 80mm boost through the room. I will yeah. Oh yeah, just getting it through to fit, that's gonna be the harder part. Yeah. Like having it is great. It's getting him to stop where he needs to be. Yeah. Because he only moves six, but he has a mat a seven, and then he's also got what was his pow on his hands? Oh, I think it's 20 now. Yeah, I want to say it's like 20, and he's got critical decapitation, which means he's gonna probably kill whatever he hits if he crits. I feel like he should just have decapitation always. I mean, as a critics player, yeah. As somebody fighting it, no.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I I really like I like the new Death Jack model.

SPEAKER_04:

It looks really sick. I'm hoping the uh mummies get access to the Orgoth Battle Turkey. That would be pretty dope. I would probably allow it just in general. Well, then I'll buy an Orgoth Battle turkey. If you'll allow it.

SPEAKER_03:

Sunday battle, there it is. Yeah, Sunday Battle's just gonna be dropping 50 points. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, where did you drive down to St. Louis? I didn't not drive to St.

SPEAKER_03:

Louis. I'm not saying I did. I didn't say I didn't. Yeah, exactly. Um other cool thing about these new quasi-new super heavies, it's like they're characters from before, but they've scaled them up. Like they're not before they're what on fifty millimeters? Yeah. Now they're on the eighties, so they're bigger and they're better and they're more points. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Seventeen. Yeah. Or at least he currently is in the legacy list.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, but now he's 20. Yeah. But he looks like he's gonna be a problem.

SPEAKER_03:

All these guys got like superpowered. Yeah. I I'm Nith got some tank treads on him. Yeah. The other guy's dropping what little things, walkers or something, the the Cygnar one. And they have little things there walking around with it. Yeah, he's got little drones.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's what Yeah, and he's also got the giant like lightning field around him.

SPEAKER_03:

Which they all look super cool.

SPEAKER_02:

Which we were sitting there and we were talking about it, and we're like, all right, what do we think it's made out of? And I'm like, I I can't tell what it's made out of. And then I looked at Thunderhead, and Angus says it's probably plastic. And I looked at the the field around Thunderhead and I was like, Yeah, it's gotta be right. I'm like, there's no way. Watch it is resin. I'd be like, well, well, I was wrong.

SPEAKER_04:

But again, it's doable in resin.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. Everything about it looks like it's plastic. Yeah, there's too much. And then when you're listening to the guys talk in the background, it looks like there's the directions, and it looks like it's a plastic cat.

SPEAKER_02:

I you mentioned that earlier, and I was looking at it, and it looks like it's almost concept art to me. Like it's almost like the conceptual diagrams for like parts where they color it in and then they have it like piecemealed out. It could be. It could be their their instructions for it. Not really sure. But it just for whatever reason it it almost looked like uh when you do the artboards for concept and design. But we'll see. We'll see what it looks like, because I'm probably gonna end up with at least two of them. I might end up with a Death Jack and uh uh Orgoth dragonslash turkey thing.

SPEAKER_03:

No behemoth?

SPEAKER_02:

Uh maybe.

SPEAKER_03:

Let's be honest, you're gonna give them. We're not kidding anybody.

SPEAKER_02:

I I'm legitimately gonna be like, all right, we're gonna need to start taking on sponsors because this is man. I either that or I get a really good scale back. Yeah, I was gonna say, I'm like gonna have to figure that out. But you could take two other characters. Luckily, I only get one. Rules coming out in 2026, January. Big thing that they're doing, one of the bigger things that they're doing is they're eliminating the spell rack, which is a weird, I don't want to say it is a weird take, because when you go back and you look at all the legacy stuff, there wasn't a spell rack. But the way that they've been playing, it's been quite influential, but they are mainly eliminating it for newer and beginning players because it becomes difficult for them to pick the right spells to kind of go against your opposing army. And if you don't really know how they work and you don't have enough playtime to actually get into it, it makes it very restrictive. So they're they're expanding out the spell list, they're gonna be creating new spells for all of these guys, and they're also going to be really rebalancing the armies, which I heard that uh the flame tongue caster from Brian Bloods is going to be getting really reworked. They from what I heard that they said, yeah, he's gonna be getting some love, because they've noticed that you know him and some other casters aren't getting played, and they want to make sure that they do get played and that they do get picked more often than once in a world's team tournament. Aaron Powell So if they don't get picked, it's because, you know, it's personal preference or whatever.

SPEAKER_03:

And I'm not playing him because he's garbage.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Well, and you've heard me say about Firequill, like he's just not good. Yeah. I'm hoping that he gets completely reworked. Um, same thing with I I don't even know I can't even pronounce his name. I'm not even gonna try the flamethone warrior. Yeah. The flametongue warrior caster. I'm hoping that he gets a fair bit of reworking because from what I understand, I've never played with him. From what I understand, he's just rough.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

The other ones, we'll see what they're gonna do.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh.

SPEAKER_04:

I hope uh forward commander Sorcia gets a little bit of a tweak. Has she been getting utilized? I don't think so. I've looked on like the long shanks, and her win rate is abysmal.

SPEAKER_02:

I know I know Cador in general hasn't been doing too too well as a whole, but I'm wondering if that's going to be part of their reworking because they said that they're they're looking actively at going back to all of them and retweaking things. Yeah. And they it very well could be. They might be bringing up some stuff, bringing uh I don't know if they're gonna be touching Legacy. I don't know if they're gonna be touching just Primark 4. I I'm not sure what they're gonna be doing. I just we'll just wait till January and find out.

SPEAKER_03:

Was it January 21st or 11th or something? I know it was a one in there. 20 something another.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I think it was 21. They said the It's the later half of January.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. I I'm I wasn't uh when they come back, I didn't catch the date.

SPEAKER_03:

I mean, I don't know how long European holiday lasts, but it's after that.

SPEAKER_02:

The last little bit of the keynote was the reveal of Menoth. The scroll thumpers return. Yeah. I I I wonder if they're gonna be played as a new army, or if it's going like if they're getting being released as a prime army for Mark IV, or if it's going to be something a little bit different.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, well, when Angles are talking, it's like the understanding was all these guys turned into frontals and stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

Half of these guys were like infernal agents. Well, and that's that's kind of where I'm wondering is is are they gonna be coming back like the retribution are? Because the retribution, there's only like little pocket cells. And that's probably what they did with all this other stuff too. There's probably these little groups here and there, and now they're able to grab them together and release them. The splinter cells. Yeah. I'm I'm curious, and they are going to be revealing them at Adepticon this year, which means that we got about four, four and a half months to go.

SPEAKER_03:

They're very clear that they're not speaking of it until Adepticon. So don't ask. Yeah. Reveal at Adepticon. This is all we're gonna say about it until Adepticon. So if you want to know more, go to it. Right. Yeah. You're talking about the narrative game table. You had something to talk about there. Oh, yeah. How can we forget about this? I didn't forget. Oh, we can never forget. So they're having the narrative campaign down at the locking mode, which is the same thing that's deciding the fate of Boomhowler. Boomhowler. And they're they showed pictures of Captain now General Gunborn. He's got his bazooka back, and he's riding in a tank. Respectable. So from what I well, I have no doubt. But he's going to be a caster. He's on an 80 millimeter base, which from what they're saying for some of the other ones, that that's kind of going to be a thing going forward that they're putting casters on bigger bases. I don't know. But the model looks awesome. And am now more sold on Kithguard than I already was. And I was already pretty sold on them.

SPEAKER_02:

I hope, from what I can see, that this is not the final product. I mean, I wish it was painted, but that's another thing that I was wondering, is because I'm wondering if that's like a phase one or a phase two sculpt. Couldn't you completely tell it was a print.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh no, 100%. Like a fresh one. Yeah. Yeah. Like it like it came off yesterday. Oh, well, a new one. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

He ain't getting painted because that one just ate it on the floor. Um, no, you could totally tell that it was a fresh sculpt. It looks it looks interesting. There was some stuff out on the narrative table that looked really interesting. Some of these things were like pieced together. Like it looked like one had a Kadorian axe and he had like Kador cannons, but it wasn't a Kodor model, it was a troll model or something. And that jet looked kind of nifty. Yeah, there there was a lot of neat stuff out there on the tables from the photos I could tell, but some of the photos were a little grainy, so you weren't able to really tell what it was. Yeah. Like one of the first ones I saw of Gunborn was really distorted. And then I saw another one that looked okay, and then I saw the one that you showed me, and I was like, it looks like you know, Gunborn was always like military really fit. Now this one looks like he's let himself go a little bit.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, he's a general.

SPEAKER_02:

It it could be. He might be living that, you know, nice general life. Yeah. I I I don't know. He's in the tank lazy boy. I mean, if you're rolling around tank, maybe. But that was one of the things that I just looked at and I was I was curious. I was like, I thought he had a much more square jaw. He didn't have like the troll throat or the lower jaw.

SPEAKER_03:

The print wasn't on point.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, and that's what I'm saying is I'm wondering if this is like like a a a different phase of the print. This isn't the final product. Yeah. I I don't know.

SPEAKER_03:

We'll know when it gets out. Uh as we know, we got four months at least to wait till that no and that's when the command starter comes out. That's not even when this guy comes out.

SPEAKER_02:

No, but I'm sure that we'll get more information as it comes.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I I'm assuming that beforehand we'll probably get some more information on them. But we'll see. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

And probably we should probably expect a similar release to like old Umbre, where, you know, first month you get the command starter and like the battle group, and then the following months you get another box set. And then yeah, you get the core expansion, then the auxiliary expansion.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, if they had a thing that on their like map or whatever, it's like each month was like a different box that came out. Like what was it, February had the main one. And then like the next four or three months after that, it was like a different box. That's great for my wallet, because you don't have to spend all in one go, but yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

That always hurts. It's always never a good fun time when that happens.

SPEAKER_04:

And then somewhere in all that we get Pharaoh and Infernals.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Yeah, we've got the the pigs are coming, and then uh that I want to say that that's four months long. And then you saw Infernals were another four months.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, because they're they're gonna follow the schedule, the the Crucible Guard.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, Pharaoh, I believe, is going to be like another year-long project, like um Cephalax.

SPEAKER_02:

Hmm. Which those are all the Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

They finish up in December. Right. And I think Pharaoh are gonna be the same like kind of release schedule where they draw it out across the year, roughly. Well, you saw what is Infernals is going to be another like quick crucible guard just a few months.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, there's there's gonna be what what is it? The last one for Syphilex is gonna be the Orgoth Strike team or whatever.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, they're dominated Orgoth of some variety.

SPEAKER_03:

Which that's kinda interesting. For sure. And then after Kithgard, what is it? The rest of the elf folk? Yep. Yeah. Or the new Dusk. Yeah, the Fane of Nero. Yeah, that's what's called.

SPEAKER_04:

So What do you think is coming digitally after Infernals?

SPEAKER_03:

Give me the fairy tale guys.

SPEAKER_04:

That's what I'm betting on. Grimkin.

SPEAKER_03:

Grimkin? Give me a spooky treehouse.

SPEAKER_04:

I feel like it has to be Grimkin or uh Convergence. And I feel like Grimkin would be much more appealing. Those things are cool.

SPEAKER_02:

Grimkin has its own cult. Like they are like the people that love Grimkin are all about Grimkin. Yeah. And they are they are another army that is full of confusing gotcha moments. But again, they look cool.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, they're they're an interesting pack. For sure. The Babbyega, but she can go in what was that other army? The Chor? Oh, that's right. It is a Cador. Yeah. The witch's shack on the chicken legs.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. Such a cool bottle. I was gonna say, you just you just saw that at one of the tournaments you were just at.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, the last two Saturdays ago. There's a guy playing all those. Yeah. He had two spooky tree houses. Yeah. And the he had the child as his Borcaster. Child. Yeah. Yeah, a corpse cart thing. And then some little Gremlin guys that or the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Yep. Just cut off horse heads on a stick. What? And then the guys had like on a rocking horse.

SPEAKER_02:

They are tremendous models. So Angus is hard pushing for Grimkin?

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Those they just again they all look cool. I will tell you.

SPEAKER_04:

I haven't seen a lot of Convergence players. In fact, I've seen no Convergence players, but I've seen a handful of Grimkin. I know you bought the Convergence starter set in like Mark III or whatever. But I think it's still in its like box, isn't it? Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm I'm actually looking around. I was like, where is it? I have it. I have I have the old uh convergence starter box, and I have the convergence tokens for them. Okay. I just don't know where it is. Uh could be in my backroom.

SPEAKER_03:

What was it? That one or the Grimkin was the last faction that Privateer made.

SPEAKER_04:

I think it was Grimkin. Sounds right.

SPEAKER_02:

Mark III had a whole bunch of stuff come out.

SPEAKER_04:

Because our buddy Benito was getting into Grimkin. Hmm.

SPEAKER_02:

I had. Yeah, I remember picking up Convergence. I picked up a bunch of other stuff. Because I want to say, I think they're metal.

SPEAKER_04:

No. Definitely not. Well, the starter set.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, like I said, I I don't know. I haven't popped it open. Well, not able to find the convergence of Cyrus. But that doesn't mean it's not floating around here somewhere. It's here somewhere. Yeah, i it's I've got it. I don't know. The kids probably touched it and moved it. But that's okay.

SPEAKER_04:

I gotta say, during that keynote, I really felt for that fellow who was like hoping that with the Pharaoh they were gonna do Helga on Wheels. I I felt the pain when the guy said that wasn't canon.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, he because he's he said what, Riot isn't canon?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. Yeah. Shameful. Riot has so much great stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

I I definitely will say that you could you could see that that was a thing. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

I I want my Karchev Deathjack.

SPEAKER_02:

Doman. Well, but then but then you lose Death Jack for Necrofactorum. I'm okay with this.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh I don't know. Uh I will A Deathjack that I can use in Crix and Kador so much better than Cuddles 2.

SPEAKER_02:

I like Cuddles 2 better.

SPEAKER_04:

And then Doom Reaver Butcher, great model. I just got that in the mail and put that together. Looks great. Can't wait to get stopped by that tomorrow.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes. You just hear that yes. Oh. Yeah, we got battle tomorrow. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

But uh Zach's is only power 16. Does it come with a dog? No.

SPEAKER_02:

That's too bad.

SPEAKER_04:

No Arcus Hounds.

SPEAKER_02:

Alright. Well, that's pretty much all the talking points from the keynote. And we definitely wanted to get this out early and get it out quickly. So we'll be pushing back our episodes that we had scheduled for uh coming up. We're gonna push that back a little bit. So if certain things seem like it might be a little out of order, we push this up to the forefront. Yeah, this is definitely gonna be a little bit more uh urgent to get out to everyone in case if they missed it. Which hopefully nobody did, but in case you did, now you got it. All right, guys. Anything else for me?

SPEAKER_03:

Nah. I think that's it.

SPEAKER_02:

All right, cool. Have a wonderful day. You too. All right, bye.
